Dirty carpet

Clockwise from top left: E.coli, HIV, SARS, Streptococcus.

Dirty Dishes is a series of tufted carpets by Toronto designer Bev Hisey. Microscope or petrie dish photgraphs provide the imagery, the exposed canvas indicating a decomposition. In Hisey’s hands, virus and bacteria associated with disease and decay are suddenly lush and elegant.
