Where lasts come first

Perfect for your backwoods log cabin or downtown shoe store.

Toronto-based twin woodworkers Jason and Lars Dressler like to make stuff out of other stuff, with beautiful results (check out the chandeliers on their site). We’re partial to their series of furniture made from lasts – pieces of wood that were crafted into forms of human feet used by cobblers back in the day. The brothers found these ones at a Northern Ontario fishing camp with a sign that said ‘firewood for cottagers.’ One man’s firewood is another man’s stylish bench.

The brothers’ work is being featured at Toronto design shop MADE’s Radiant Dark exhibition ‘Assets & Values’ at the end of January. Check out Madedesign.ca for details.
