Plink

Jam with strangers online.

I’ve already lost a couple of hours of my life jamming with strangers on Plink. As digital instruments go, it’s very intuitive. And given that you’re making music collaboratively, it’s one of the most rewarding online multi-user experiences out there. (It doesn’t hurt that the samples are tuned to avoid bad notes.) You have to be patient, but when the right crowd develops, a musical give-and-take, push-and-pull happens. The improvisational monster you’re making takes over, and everyone seems to know what to do, and when it’s their turn to solo. If you’ve never jammed with a real band, or if you have, this is the closest virtual equivalent I’ve found.

This week’s Frandoms are by Jovan Rocanov, Kirk Clyne and Spencer Saunders from The Juice Agency.
