Under Construction

A glimpse through the traffic cones at C2-MTL.

Just past the entrance of the C2-MTL conference in Montreal last week, there was an art installation that made people stop in their tracks. It consisted of orange traffic cones curving around a structure, but upon closer inspection, they also had headphones attached that emitted ambient music, and when you looked through the traffic cone openings you could see illuminated scenes of graphic, industrial and interior design. The project, called “Creativity Under Construction” is from Montreal-based Mission Design and features 37 flagship projects from Canadian design firms. Originally mounted at the Taipei World Design Expo, C2 was its Canadian debut. Word of caution: Don’t try looking through the cones at your local construction site. The outcome will definitely not be the same.
