3D printed soles

Don a pair of these bird-inspired heels.

The advancements in 3D printing have definitely added a new medium for artists and creative types to experiment with. Dutch fashion designer Marieka Ratsma and American architect Kostika Spaho came together to collaborate on creating a 3D shoe inspired by a bird’s skull. This stunning work definitely makes you look at the endless possibilities of this technology, from creating art to utilitarian design.

As a side note, it’s crazy how this technology has advanced: its can create toys, replace parts for gadgets and even to recreate beaks for injured birds, and most amazingly is available for the masses.

This week’s Frandoms are by Mooren Bofill, art director, Zulu Alpha Kilo.
