The Qualico Family Centre in Winnipeg’s Assiniboine Park, the city’s biggest piece of urban greenery, is getting a makeover. The 100-year old building’s roof will become fully vegetated, planted with local grasses that will eventually grow to become a raised piece of the forest floor. As told via archdaily.com “As time passes, materials that age and weather allow the architecture to mature, growing into and out of its site. A permanent record of local weather patterns will be imprinted distinctly on facades clad with weathering steel.”
