Totally tubular

Yuri Suzuki's tube map radio.

This past fall, I had the chance to see a Yuri Suzuki project at the Design Museum in London as part of its Designers in Residence program. “Tube Map Radio” takes a complicated subject – electronic circuitry – and teaches it in a familiar way. By turning the London Tube map into a circuit board (which was actually the inspiration for its design), he tells the story of how a radio works. The idea of creating a cohesive “narrative” out of electrical circuitry is mind-blowing to me. Also, check out the rest of Yurisuzuki.com to see some wild sound-based installations.

This week’s Frandoms are by Sebastian Lyman, copywriter, Cossette.
