Using the sun's rays to print images on fabric.
Lumi 2

A new way to screen-print! Los Angeles-based Lumi provides a print-making system that includes an app to take photos, sun-activated ink and printed negatives of your image to transfer to fabric. It takes only 10-20 minutes of sun exposure for the colour of the ink to develop and leave an image behind. I love this mix of good old-fashioned photo development and new-age tech to provide an alternative to the labour intensive, expensive and sometimes inaccessible screen-printing process.

This week’s Frandoms are by Nicola Pringle, art director at Calder Bateman.
