These homes may appear reminiscent of an Avatar-esque world, but they’re also a possible solution to deforestation if Denmark-based architect Konrad Wójcik can find an investor to fund the tree-like structures. It’s not only that the houses, made with a lightweight wooden frame (no cement or steel), shoot up instead of out to curb urban sprawl, they also mimic trees so as to not disturb the beauty and balance of the organic world. They take in light with solar panels to create energy (like a tree’s leaves during photosynthesis) and they use a heat pump below ground to draw in energy (as a trees roots would for nutrients).
