The reluctant father

The best short story you'll read this week.

baby plateThey say you forget all your fears and doubts about being a parent (and consequently, a grown up) the minute your baby opens its eyes. Well, that wasn’t the case for British, NYC-based photographer Phillip Toledano when he had his first child at age 40. It took him a whole year-and-a-half before he admitted finally falling in love with his daughter Loulou and accepting his fantastic fate as a father. The Reluctant Father book is a beautiful, visual short story about the blossoming love for a baby who sometimes reminded Toladano of a ticking, alien bomb (that’s right, somebody finally said it).
