Move aside, human-like porcelain dolls. Robots can now take the creepy medal for things that look unnervingly¬†anthropomorphic. Thanks to Brit photog Luisa Whitton, the world can see just how close Japanese scientists have come to creating androids that not only have artificial life, but also realistic human attributes. Her photo essay “What about the heart?” (created in collaboration with scientists Hiroshi Ishiguro and Osamu Kitigawa) shows the impact of the niche Japanese robotics industry and questions what it means to be human as technology progresses. Mind blown, anyone?
