Contemporary Animals

Wildlife ABCs for a new generation.
animals 3

Does anyone else find it strange that they (whoever they is) decided to use animals to teach us our ABCs when we were wee tykes? I get that, as kids, you’re drawn to animals (ask my niece who enjoys frantically tugging at poor Charlie cat), but did they really have to ruin my chances of ever liking the letter “s”? Sassy Snake still visits my nightmares. Okay, so if there’s no way around using animals, then we’d like to see more of these alphabet illustrations from Ottawa’s Dani Alon and Chris Hannay (remember him?), where not only do you learn letters, but also humour and even life lessons. Such as a Healthy Humminbird only drinks shakes or Gross Gorilla thinks the subway is his living room. Kids should know these things.
