Before Storage Wars and Breaking Bad, we didn’t really give much thought to storage lockers. Who would really? As it turns out, designers and architects would. Just a couple weeks ago, a bunch of them congregated, as part of Raw Design‘s annual event, in an 11,000 square feet storage unit in The Junction for the construction of five installations. And they weren’t inconspicuous pieces. Each were meant to stimulate the senses using basic materials such as wood, bricks, glass, metals and fabric. One group of artists designed a residential neighbourhood that hung from the ceiling, while another created a spiralling structure that jutted through the surrounding space. Deep down, we kind of wish someone had recreated the Walter White cash mound though.
