Trash to treasure

Artist Aurora Robson transforms garbage into works of art.

Toronto-born Aurora Robson is a multimedia artist and environmental activist whose work is not just pleasing to the eye, but to the soul as well. Or at least once you realize that she has literally turned garbage into works of art. Taking everyday waste such as plastic bin liners, water bottles and even junk mail, Robson constructs pieces that have haunting, ephemeral quality to them. She calls what she does “transformation” versus “creation,” which is an intriguing way to think about the things we choose to make and, more so, why we choose to make it.
