Artist Mike Sharpe re-imagines trees you once climbed as a child.

Mike Sharpe is a friend of mine who fabricates everything from custom mounts for ancient Islamic artefacts at the Aga Khan Museum, to steam-bent pendant lamps at the 2014 Interior Design Show, to a giant pair of glowing pink balls installed at 2012′s Nuit Blanche. But the bulk of his varied work is in salvaging ill-fated trees and entire orchards into works of art and custom furniture. Like he says, “Imagine sitting in a chair made from the tree you climbed as a child.”

This week’s Frandoms are by Jeremy Burgin, senior art director at Fuse Marketing Group.
