Everyone’s a distributor
A novel approach to marketing an indie movie.
If you have a Facebook page, a Twitter account, some film-hungry friends and an appetite for easy cash, then you have almost everything it takes to become a full-fledged independent movie distributor. So say the creators behind new horror flick Rage: Midsummer’s Eve who are giving average Joes and Janes the chance to make some extra cash by posting a link to the film on their social media pages/blogs/websites. By sharing the link and other marketing materials provided, they essentially become an independent distributor for the film and will walk away with 20% commission of the sale price, if a person chooses to pay to watch the film online. If some of our baby/cat/food porn-posting, serial commenting friends get a whiff of this, they’re going to make a fortune.
