Forget crowdsourcing the funding for projects – Kickstarter is interesting because it makes inviting your audience into the production process mandatory. After funding a project and watching it come together piece by piece, you forget that you donated money to make it happen – the sense of ownership is about emotional connection, not financial obligation.
