Electric retrofit

Create the bike of your dreams, for real.

Sorry but there are few things funnier than hipster+fixie+hill. You just can’t fit single-speed hill-climbing thighs into those skinny jeans. But Canada’s own BionX makes an electric pedal-assist system that hides in a bike rack. It’s too bulky for the typical wire and hoop fixie but perfect for fitting to the comfortable and bulletproof Amsterdam-style bike. Now you can ride an electric bike that doesn’t look like it was designed for lonely Saturday night cat food runs. Seven cents a day in operating cost is nice but what’s more, there’s a mix of design and practicality right under our noses and it’s ready to radically lower everyone’s personal carbon dump.

This week’s Frandoms are by Rob Schlyecher at Spring Advertising.
