Smart stick shift

Changing gears made easy (well, easier anyway) for manual driving novices.

If you’re like us, then you never had the chance to learn to drive a car with a manual transmission, which is no big deal, really, until you have to admit it. Ford engineer Zach Nelson has designed a stick shift that may be able to help us learn without the embarrassment of constantly stalling or grinding the gears. Created using a 3D printer, the shifter includes the vibrating device from an Xbox 360 controller, which conveniently throbs when it’s time to change gears.
