Google’s science fair

Some of the greatest minds of the next generation.

Remember that volcano you built with papier mâché, vinegar and baking soda? Or that cut fern you coaxed back into growth? Did you win your science fair with those experiments? Well, those were nothing compared to the work by this year’s Google Science Fair. The global fair brings together kids between 13 and 18 with pretty awesome inventions. Just check out 15-year-old, Victoria-based Ann Makosinski, who developed a body-heat powered flashlight. Or 17-year-old U.S.-based Elizabeth Zhao, who developed an early melanoma cancer screening tool. Makes that volcano look pretty paltry now, don’t it. Today is the last day to vote – so check it out.
