Ecology of an art scene

Getting artists and patrons to chat.

symposiumParis and Toronto contemporary art-types, unite! A lively debate about what makes for a vibrant cultural community is set for Nov. 8 and 9 in Toronto, part of a months-long series highlighting contemporary art from France in the Big Smoke. This collaboration between the Canadian Art Foundation‘s International Speaker Series, the Consulate General of France in Toronto and the Power Plant gallery, is a symposium, facilitated by Trampoline Hall lectures host Misha Glouberman (pictured). Don’t expect artsy-fartsy talk. The discussion is about art ecologies – “practices, subjectivities and institutions; the communities they create; and the economies they rely upon, deviate from or invent.” Hopefully someone will explain what that means at the event.
