A magic wand... for food nutrition.

Tired of reading labels on food packages to check if it contains peanuts, gluten or trans fats? York University math professor Stephen Watson and entrepreneur Isabel Hoffman have developed a new scanning tech that can give you the full breakdown of any piece of food. Wave the Tellspec (which has reached its fundraising goal on Indiegogo) over an apple, for instance, and it will send vital info to the user’s smartphone, such as if it contains pesticides and how many calories are in it. Now if only it could turn some “empty” calories into healthy ones.
