Coca-Cola Zero flies south with Metallica.

Back in 2008, mother nature gave Fall out Boy a frosty welcome when the band tried to land in Antarctica to perform on the world’s sixth continent. Bad weather bulldozed the punk rockers’ plans, but some heavy metal fans were able to plant their feet on the ice yesterday when Coca-Cola Zero flew them and Metallica to the continent for a tour and performance. South American prize-winners from the brand’s “Musica” contest journeyed to the bottom of the Earth to listen to the band’s distorted sounds, though not through amps but headphones, in an effort to protect the natural environment. You know, ’cause nothing’s more natural than a handful of strangers silently headbanging in front of a huddle of penguins on the coldest, driest and windiest place on Earth.
