Smart housing
Honda is building efficient homes for its electric vehicles (naturally).

Honda homes. You heard right, folks. The car maker is now a maker of sustainable housing. Well, maybe not a full-scale manufacturer just yet, but they’re incubating ideas for more sustainable solutions in its first smart home that currently lives on the University of California campus. It has all the fittings of an eco-haven, including solar panels, an intelligent energy management system, and lest we forget, a charging station for its Honda electric vehicles (naturally) to be plugged into the house and used to feed energy back in. Bravo to the brand for taking the next step, but we can’t help think finishing the first project it started (moving from hybrid cars to oil-independent vehicles) would make us feel more confident in its abilities to make a real difference.
