Creative ideas from a sausage plant
Johnsonville turned to its employees for ideas for new ads, and Droga5 brought them to life.

Johnsonville is a bit of a rarity in the packaged food industry, in that it has been independent and family-owned throughout its history. It’s team of tightly-knit employees handles everything the company does, so it makes sense that they would also come up with ideas for its ads, too.
Agency Droga5 sat down with Johnsonville employees to hear their ideas for commercials, choosing three to put their full production budget behind. The resulting ads have a bit of a Drunk History feel to them, except instead of hammered comedians, you have adorable Midwestern packing plant employees. First off, you have Jeff, describing a romp in the woods with animals that want to know more about the Johnsonville sausage he’s eating (animals he learned to talk to from “books,” naturally).

Then there’s Brett, whose idea starts out as a big-budget, Hollywood-style chase that has some adjustments made to it, for safety’s sake.

A third ad is on its way, and will apparently be a horror spoof taking place in a haunted house.
