Inspiring others to give

Telus puts the spotlight on the grassroots causes it has supported over the years to get others to do the same.

Since 2005, Telus has hosted online “Community Boards” where people across the country can see the grassroots-level projects and causes Telus is helping to fund in 11 different communities, and how much money is going to them in a given year. You likely didn’t know that unless you were involved with one of the groups that has received some of that $52 million over the last ten years. But now it looks like the telco is trying to get some eyes on its efforts in the hopes that it will encourage others to increase their generosity.

There’s not really a big twist in this new video created by The&Partnership, and no eye-catching gimmick to entice people to donate to a particular cause. Just several simple, heart-warming examples of the impact an individual’s generosity can have, which should be enough to convince others to do the same for their own communities.

If the video does inspire you to give a little more, Telus has also set up a “#TheGivingEffect” website, created by Toronto agency Pound & Grain, which is spotlighting particular projects, telling stories of the work some of these grassroots groups have done in the past, as well as compiling social posts using the hashtag to give more attention to causes that could still use support.
