Warby Parker looks good on Canada
The brand is coming to TO, so 88 Creative gave it a celebrity eyeglass-wearing poster to welcome it to the hood.
Mom always said “luck happens when preparation meets opportunity.”
Perhaps that’s the motto of the day over at 88 Creative, because it’s not waiting to pitch against a group of eager agencies for Warby Parker business when it arrives in Toronto this summer. The agency is making its move before it even sets foot on Canadian soil.
The communications agency really, really, really wants to work with the brand that makes affordably-priced vintage eye-wear (naturally, it’s first location is in T.O.’s hip Queen West hood), so it tasked its designers to create a colourful, stylised poster of Canadian celebrities, from the Jays’ Jose Bautista to astronaut Chris Hadfield and actress Pamela Anderson, all donning a pair of the brand’s spectacles. It then sent a print of the piece to the brand’s HQs, and made a landing page with a simple nudge for the brand to reach out if they like what they see.
And that they did. Apparently they thought the poster was “unreal” (and now to make it real with a business deal).
