Two Canadian directors made Saatchi & Saatchi’s New Directors Showcase 2009, the annual list of talent to watch. Ben Steiger Levine of Nu Films / Les Enfants in Montreal was featured in this year’s showcase at the Palais, as was Christopher Hutsul of Toronto-based Soft Citizen. The work of the 23 directors selected – from Beijing to Argentina – were presented at a packed event at the Cannes adfest on Thursday, including Levine’s stunning video for Montreal band Beast’s track ‘Mr Hurricane’ and Hutsul’s animated ‘Rodney and Geoffrey Visit Air Force One’ for Nike.
