Ear bud switch
The CHS saves kids’ hearing.
There is nothing more frustrating than sitting on an otherwise quiet subway and hearing the music of the person standing five feet away from you. Not only is it annoying (you really shouldn’t be forced to listen to that horrible pop song) but don’t people know they’re going to go deaf? When they do, they’ll just wind up turning their music up even louder and suddenly we’re in a vicious cycle of bad blaring subway music! The Canadian Hearing Society has a fix for the madness: today between 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. at Yonge-Dundas Square, they’ll be handing out ear buds to young passersby. The catch? They aren’t actually ear buds, but ear plugs, which come with the following message: “To find out what listening to music at unsafe volumes will do to your hearing, try these out.” Can we have a handful to pass around too?
