Willy Wonka treats and a movie
Edible Cinema brings aroma, texture and taste to the theatre.
Movies and snacks go hand-in-hand. You can’t have one without the other, and Edible Cinema (a collaboration between Soho House and Teatime Productions) has taken this tradition to a whole new level.
If you’ve ever seen Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, you’ll know what it’s like to drool over moving pictures. The entire film makes our tummies ache as we dream of Mr. Wonka’s factory treats, so we’re just kicking ourselves for not being able to visit the Science Museum in London this month to watch the movie while chowing down on bite-sized sweets as part of Edible Cinema’s latest experience. During the movie screening, each guest is given a tray of numbered mystery boxes with surprise foods that relate to specific moments in the film. We’d survive if they couldn’t replicate the Everlasting Gobstopper or Three-Course Dinner Chewing Gum, but we’d definitely be peeved if they didn’t perfect the original Wonka Bar.
