Videoflicks

A video store clinging to existence, and why we should support it.

I know it isn’t technically part of the sixth great extinction, but we’ve got to preserve those neighbourhood nooks where you can browse movies. Because they’re so much more. Stores like Videoflicks are like a thermal vent that harbours an entire ecosystem, where exotic lifeforms can eke out an existence. It’s where you can find 70’s era Herbies, or Ponette. Where pre-Google search conversations come up with savant results. There’s just something special that happens in those places that deserves a UN Heritage designation and protection against the red tides of VOD and nail salon-dom.
