In a sea of photographic sameness
This camera stops taking photos if too many have been taken before.

Back in the day, you had 12, 24 or 36 chances to take the perfect shot. Photographing with film was a whole other ball game. Now we have digital. And with it comes a stream of photos taken by anyone and everyone because, well, we can. But this new camera is sick of our incessant photographing of everything we see before our eyes, and actually prevents people from shooting things that have been shot too many times before. The Camera Restricta was created by Phillip Schmitt to be a tool for censorship and, as it describes, “a disobedient tool for taking unique photographs.” Watch the video below for some of its features and how it works, and be inspired to put the same restrictions on your regular, non-judgy camera at home.
