Lost My Name

Ex-digital ad folks have launched the second in their book series that incorporates a child's name and neighbourhood into the story.

Did you ever have a book in your home library that was written just for you?

Personalised books are not a new concept but a small digital company in the U.K. has been breathing new life into the idea with a series of books that incorporates a child’s name and neighbourhood into the story.

Former advertising folk Asi Sharabi, Tal Oron, David Cadju-Newby and Pedro Serapicus launched Lost My Name, a digital entertainment and publishing company in 2012 and have since sold over 1.5 million copies of the first edition of the personalized book, Lost My Name. Last week the company emerged with its second book, The Incredible Intergalactic Journey Home, which takes readers on a personalised journey into the space and brings them right back to earth, and specifically to their own home.

Here’s what’s cool about this visual adventure for little (and potentially big) ones. The folks at Lost my Name have developed a geocoder and mapping API that is able to pluck out a satellite image of an individual child’s neighbourhood (once you plug in the address into the online order system). The printed book includes a story about your child going to outer space journey (with real NASA images), a crash-landing somewhere on planet earth and a final leg of travel that takes them right back home where he or she belongs.

And here’s an extra bit of magic that should inspire the astronaut in every child: with the assistance of an in-built application, each child’s name is spelled out as a constellation of stars.
