South African duo Chanel Cartell and Stevo Dirnberger spent 15 years crafting ads before leaving their jobs to pursue a life of travel.

“We felt the routine of perfection creeping up on us and aging us with its complacency. We were no longer feeling challenged,” writes Cartell about the reasons for leaving their cushy life in a blog documenting their travels. “We’re looking at a journey that allows us to live outside of the shuddering comfort zone, and gives us the opportunity to say ‘yes’ to a whole bunch of crazy cool experiences whilst fueling our creative needs.”

They’ve discovered a lot in the past two years, but nothing more remarkable than the similarities outlined in their latest photo essay called “Scenes From Around the World – A Mashup Project.” Here, they showcase images of two different locations, combined to create a single image that shows “just how beautiful (and similar) the world really is.”
