Can you imagine a Big Mac without the beef? Its famous french fries without the potatoes? Or the McFlurry without the cream? If it weren’t for Canadian farmers, from dairy to beef to chicken, McDonald’s says it wouldn’t have any of its iconic items on the menu. The fact that 80% of its annual expenditure is spent on local Canadian-sourced ingredients is being addressed by the brand in a new ad campaign that’s an extension of its “Our Food. Your Questions.” program. It’s saluting Canadian beef, chicken, eggs, potatoes and dairy farmers in five 15-second TV spots that launched this week and will run for the next four weeks. And as with any visual food product-heavy ads that come across our desks, we’re salivating over cravings that weren’t there before.
