Some chain restaurants seem to have given up the fight on maintaining traditional manners during a meal, encouraging patrons to tweet about their meal or take selfies at the table. But Turtle Jack’s still thinks actually talking to the people you’re with makes for a better dining experience, so Union helped the restaurant develop “The Phone Block” during March Break. A small cube was placed on every table where diners could keep their phone safe and secure, but if someone couldn’t resist the temptation to check their Instagram likes or read their text messages before their meal is done, the block would light up and buzz. If that embarrassment wasn’t enough, any party that could hold out until the end received a 20% discount on their final bill.
