Artistry on the walls and on the plate
Sid Lee turns e.a.t. into a fully artistic dining experience.
A new restaurant dubbed ê.a.t. has opened in the W Montreal hotel, and Sid Lee Architecture has helped ensure the food isn’t the only thing that satisfies guests’ creative tastes. The agency came in and gave the restaurant a look that ditched the “heavy” design that’s common in many of today’s trendy restaurants (including the one that previously occupied the space) in favour of something that mirrored the artistry that went into the food, as the agency’s Jean Pelland explains in the video below. The agency engaged artist agency MASSIVart to create a collective of local artists to cover the walls in both pop culture-inspired street art and contemporary portraits. Installations will be regularly swapped out for new pieces to keep things on the cutting edge, with DJs creating different live soundscapes depending on the time of day.
