The Raptors star stakes his claim to the city in a new Nike spot.
Demar Derozan assured us he wasn’t going anywhere. A fan base that suffered through the wrenching departures of Vince Carter and Chris Bosh could have feared the worst last summer when, after the Raptors’ best season to date, the all-star shooting guard was a free agent.
But Derozan never even took meetings with other teams. “I am Toronto,” he said at his press conference, announcing his $139-million resigning. Nike was paying attention. In this new spot, Derozan says he never thought about leaving his adopted city, before delivering the signature line.
