Watch out Chris Hadfield, there’s a new star circling the planet. Everyone’s favourite Japanese feline, Hello Kitty, has gone where no animated cat has gone before. Kitty owner Sanrio and the University of Tokyo have sent a plush likeness of the earthly famous character to space aboard a satellite, apparently in an effort to promote the country’s high-tech sector. Fans will likely be more interested in the chance to have their 180-character message “sent from space” by Hello Kitty. Perhaps she and Cmdr Hadfield could record a new version of Space Oddity together.
