Smile, you’re on a 3D-scanning camera. Telco Megafon and agency Axis (both based out of Russia) are planning to make 3D-scanned images of the smiling faces of customers part of the upcoming Sochi Games. Until Christmas, people in 30 Russian cities are being scanned at booths at the company’s stores, and project designer Asif Khan is collaborating with the company to build an interactive display that will feature the images during the Games. About 170,000 faces will be displayed in 3D, appearing eight metres tall and six metres wide on the snow white façade of an interactive pavilion at the Olympics, and will also be sent to the individuals as a personal video.
