State Farm gets new spokespeople all the way from "France."

I have a confession to make: I’ve never understood the Coneheads. While I hold a special reverence for all the classic characters from the history of Saturday Night Live, Jane Curtain and Dan Akyroyd’s fish-out-of-water aliens from “France” just never did it for me. What I am a fan of, though, are sci-fi crossovers.

A few weeks ago, State Farm re-uploaded its “Jake from State Farm” spot from 2011 to YouTube and began pushing it through its social media channels, only this time there were cryptic messages “spliced” in, encouraging us earthlings to tune in on May 11:

Then, a few days ago, this video by DDB Chicago launched, a shot-for-shot remake of the old spot, except featuring the Coneheads, their overly-technical manner of speaking and misunderstanding of our primitive earth customs:

The Coneheads will also appear in a series of new spots for the company going forward. No word yet on how many mass quantities of consumables State Farm has needed to supply in order to keep them around.
