Here’s that John Lewis ad you’ve been waiting for
Introducing Buster the Boxer, star of the British department store's latest holiday spot.

Christmas season in the U.K. is officially here. There’s no mistaking it with all these foxes, badgers, hedgehogs and boxers bouncing on trampolines.
After a series of teaser videos all week, British department store John Lewis has released its latest iconic Christmas spot, called “Buster the Boxer.” The ad checks most of the yuletide boxes: excited child going to sleep, frustrated dad assembling a gift late at night, and some highly marketable animals, led by the title character. It also features some impressive CGI.

Adam & Eve/DDB created the spot, which was directed by Dougal Wilson, who is also behind several of the brand’s other recent Christmas spots.
The ad comes with all kinds of bonuses: it will feature on the dashboard for Sky customers, and the brand is releasing a “making of” film, also for Sky subscribers. In addition, there is a VR component at the flagship London store, a 360-degree film on its website, a Buster Snapchat lens, and merchandise including stuffed animals, with some money going to The Wildlife Trusts.
