TurboTax gets the genius treatment

Who knew filing taxes could be so profoundly easy?

If you left the home you grew up in a long time ago, managed to figure out how to find a spouse, have/raise babies and build a successful career, but you’re still getting your parents’ help with your taxes each year, then maybe you should watch these commercials.

Filing taxes, apparently, isn’t as complex as the majority of upstanding, taxpaying citizens may believe. So TurboTax, and its agency Wieden + Kennedy in Portland, decided to (very sarcastically) show just how easy it is to pay the tax man. There really was no need to bring in masterminds (like real-life intellectuals Dr. Michio Kaku, Dr. George Smoot and S. James Gates) to show you how, but the brand did anyway to prove its point of “It doesn’t take a genius to do your taxes” — even if you’re doing so via your mobile phone in a library, coffee shop or, our personal favourite, while watering your above ground swimming pool.
