Architecture meets science fiction

These images of what look like post-apocalyptic suburbs are real.

These images made us do a double take. At first we thought they were digital renderings of a post-apocalyptic French suburbs, with dilapidated-looking (but not quite dilapidated) buildings lining quiet, empty streets. But by golly, they’re as real as the Eiffel Tower, and as mesmerising as the gardens in the Palace of Versailles. Photographer Laurent Kronental has documented towers in the outskirts of Paris that appear as though they belong to the Church of Scientology. Some have even been featured in movies such as the Hunger Games, according to Fubiz. We especially love the images that show a lone man or woman looking into the distance or the camera. Because, you know, as if the images weren’t sinister enough.
